  1. Where can I buy KoolDuct?
    Kingspan KoolDuct can be purchased through the Kingspan KoolDuct System Delivery Partner network. Sheet Metal Werks is your local partner.
  2. How do I locate a qualified installer of KoolDuct?
    In the Midwest we have trained fabricators and installers in key areas across the Midwest. If you do not see one in your area please contact us to get connected to an installer in your area.
  3. How do I get trained to install KoolDuct?
    To be trained to fabricate or install Kingspan KoolDuct, one must become certified in the appropriate techniques. Delta Air Systems provides a 3 day training class that allows you to be approved to use KoolDuct. This is done to assure a quality product with all Kingspan KoolDuct users.   4. Can KoolDuct be used in exterior applications?
    Kingspan KoolDuct is an excellent choice for exterior applications. Following the Kingspan approved fabrications techniques, cladding is used to ensure a quality outdoor product that can withstand harsh elements – sun, snow, wind, rain and freezing temperatures.
  5. Can KoolDuct be used in interior applications?
    Kingspan KoolDuct can be used indoor in the sample application as traditional sheet metal ductwork. KoolDuct is your all in one insulated ductwork, not needing additional fiberglass insulation. Additionally, low duct weight and the ability to be installed flush to the ceiling are just two of the many advantages of using Kingspan KoolDuct for your indoor project.
  6. What insulation R value can I reach with KoolDuct?
    There are currently two panel thicknesses that supply an R6 and R8.1 insulation value. These are both attained with a 7/8″ and 1 3/16″ phenolic boards.
  7. Will KoolDuct meet SMACNA construction standards?
    Yes. SMACNA has recently published the Phenolic Duct Construction Standards which includes ductwork such as that found in Kingspan KoolDuct. These duct construction and installation standards will be internationally recognized by the leading authority in HVAC construction.
  8. Is KoolDuct compliant with ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1:2007, IECC 2003, 2006, 2009 & 2012, IMC 2009?
    Yes. KoolDuct is complaint with ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1:2007, IECC 2003, 2006, 2009 & 2012, IMC 2009.
  9. Where is KoolDuct fabricated?
    In the Midwest a network of fabricators construct KoolDuct for their own market areas. They can be found on our Delivery Partners page.
  10. How is KoolDuct installation different than traditional sheet metal?
    Kingspan KoolDuct is very fast to install because of several key things; it is very light and can be fabricated in segments as long as 13′. Two, it is air tight and doesn’t need to be sealed after installation. Three, it is pre-insulated and no additional wrap of insulation is necessary.
  1. Will KoolDuct produce smoke?
    Kingspan KoolDuct is a certified UL 181 product for its excellent fire and smoke rating and easily meets the requirements of ASTM E84 and UL723 25/50 flame and smoke spread ratings.
  2. Can KoolDuct be installed in new and remodel construction?
    Kingspan KoolDuct is an excellent choice for any application that traditional sheet metal ductwork can be used. New or remodel, KoolDuct is an excellent high R-value, low air leakage alternative. Click here to view all industries served.
  3. What is the sound attenuation of KoolDuct?
    Kingspan KoolDuct is a very quiet way to convey air. While it doesn’t present any “open cell fibers” to absorb noise…it does not have any inherent break out noise that is often confused with “the HVAC equipment operation”. Kingspan KoolDuct is a thick resin that does not have the propensity to resonate or transmit sounds and as such is a quiet high performance air distribution system.
  4. Is mold able to grow in KoolDuct?
    Kingspan KoolDuct’s smooth aluminum outer layer is anti-microbial. Kingspan KoolDuct is UL Certified and tested to exceed UL 181 Class 1 duct system testing for mold growth.
  5. Can KoolDuct be used in industrial, residential and commercial applications?
    KoolDuct can be used in all applications where traditional sheet metal ductwork is used. KoolDuct is a no fiber insulation product offering excellent IAQ and energy saving benefits to the residential markets. This medium pressure ducting system is excellent for commercial applications and ideal for industrial applications because of its closed cell, smooth aluminum surface.

  7. Is KoolDuct an alternative for, fiberglass board, fiberglass insulation, galvanized metal, armaflex or armacell?
    Yes.
  8. Can KoolDuct be used in outdoor exposed environments?
    Because Kingspan KoolDuct is a closed cell insulated foam…it can be used in outdoor applications with special cladding. Contact fran@deltaairsystems.us for more application assistance for outdoor ducting applications.
  9. Is KoolDuct considered phenolic board?
    Yes…with its proprietary closed cell, non-ozone depleting blowing agent, Kingspan KoolDuct is a premium phenolic board that meets the requirements of a Class 1 UL181 listed ducting system.
